Also sent in: It's very hard to hex the actual .pet file, but theres a few tutorials at the petz source on how to change the eyelids, eye colour, gender of a pet. It's harder to hex the .pet file because if the size of the file alters slightly it corrupts so make sure you keep a back-up before trying :) if you need more help on this i could explain in detail if you email me. -Stacey@Hula Hoop

I know some other people have been having problems with this too, but how do you fix a file that when dogs from that file pick up a ball or pup etc it disappears and you can't actually tell that it has anything in its mouth :( I know that quite a few people would be grateful to know what's messed up (if anyone knows). | 83. Every time I try to make a texture of my own, the Dogz comes out with either no texture, or a bunch of multi-coloured speckles. What did I do wrong? I read your tutorial and saved the texture as a 256 colour bitmap. I used Paint, not PSP. |
If the furfile is saved correctly than you probally forgot to replace the 1's with zeros. If youve done all of this maybe "Paint" doesn't save the file in the correct format somehow. |

well.. you have to download a hexing program such as hex workshop, then open the breed files within this program. Then follow the tutorials! |

| 88. I downloaded a hexed dog breed which overwrites the original Dalmation breed. I want to make it so that the breed I downloaded will show up seperately at the Adoption Center AND the REAL Dalmation breed (the original one which comes with Petz 5) will show up seperately also. I have managed to get the overwriting-Dalmation breed to show up seperately but now the REAL Dalmation breed won't show up at the Adoption Center. PLEASE HELP!!!! I'm DESPERATE!!

If you go to softseek.com or download.com there is usually a search box and all you need to do is type in "hex workshop" and it will find a bunch of stuff for you! |

| 93. When try to do Fur File Hexies I accidently deleated the breed! I went back and tried to do it again but I keep comming up with the same result! Please help! I need the dane breed file back and I need to know how to do this without deleating the breed! Please help and thank you!

I personaly never rename a breed. I make a copy of the origional and keep it in a safe place. I hex the breed that goes in the program and just over-write it. If I like the way it turns out I save it in it's own folder. |

A: You open up your hex editor, and search for Texture List. You should come up with something like this:
"[Texture List]..\art\textures\plush.bmp 1..\art\textures\hair10.bmp
1..\art\textures\hair10.bmp"
(textures are different for some breeds)
you just change the textures to plush.bmp and voila there you have a cute plushed breed.

I don't think you can hex paint and use furfiles on the same breed, it's either or, unless you use textures.. sometimes you have a little more room for painting, but it's simillar to furfiles. |
