| 1. How do you change the size of a dogz' tail to make it
bushier? I've tried increasing fuzz and ball size, but only the fuzz shows
up! *tears her hair out in frustration* |
What you need to do is search for the "Ball Size Override" or override and uncheck the
case sensitive box and find it. You can space out the entire area, or just the tail ballz. The
numbers are listed by ballz number then size difference. So you would space over 57 to 61
and the numbers in between. 83 to 87 are also tail ballz so space over them too. Once that
is done, the dogz tail should come out as bushy as you hexed it.

| 2. When I create a new breed, using the directions in the FAQ
page on how to create a breed, how do I get the picture on the petz
selection screen to change? |
I believe you have to find the section that starts with "BMA" and
highlight it to before where it says ;dalmation (or whatever it is you're
hexing.) Paste that into a new file, and save it as a bitmap. Then you
can edit it, so long as it stays the same size, save, reopen it in the
hex editor, and replace that section of the breedfile with the edited
bitmap. I've tried this numerous times, and while it's supposed to work,
it doesn't always. If your breed isn't showing up it's probably because
the new bitmap is too large. Sent in By: Sakama from: Koyukuk This also sent in: regarding the adoption center bitmap...Carolyn wrote a really
helpful tutorial on hexing basics, which included the answer to this

| 3. What does it mean to space over? Because when someone says in
a tutorial they say to space over something.I don't know what they mean
by space over. |
That means (when your hexing) to put your cursor in front of a number and press the space bar, which erases what was there without messing up anything. If you press backspace you will shift the numbers and it could mess up your hexing. If this doesn't work when you try it press your "Insert" key on your keyboard.

| 4. I'm trying to hex a bengal breed file. But ever time I
change the texture. The body part turns a plain color instead of the BMP file
that it's sopose to be. How do I fix this? |
From my experience with furfiles and textures whenever you change either you must replace the 1's with zeros that follow the bmp file. for more info visit the tutorial's page and check out furfile hexies. |
| 5. Is it possible to change a dalis spots color to more then
one color on different places on the body? If so, how? |
Open your hex editor and do a search for "spots." You should see the
name of the body part and then a bunch of numbers. The 35 at the top of
the paragraph is the color of the spots. Each body part has a number of
different sections where you can change the 35 to whatever color you
want. If your editor doesn't display the info in paragraphs, I believe
they are about 8 lines long. On an unhexed Dali, the spot color will
ALWAYS be 35, so it's pretty easy to spot. (har har.)

A: If you want your Dali to have multiple spot colors all you have to do is look up "individual
variation" and change the 35(spot color is black) to whatever colors you want. Some body
parts have only one or two variations, while others have many. Say you wanted grey,
brown, and cream spots. You could go down the list and change the 35's to 25, 95, and
45. Your Dali will come out of the adoption center with grey, brown, and cream spots all
over it's body.

| 6. How come when I hex paint a pet, my breed I hexed is missing? I lose the breed.
|
Losing the breed also occurs when replacing a 3 digit number
with a 1 or 2 digit number. Hex painting the Russian Blue breed file
for example has the number 115. In order to change that number, SPACE out
the first 1 and replace the 15 with the number you want for a hex
number with 2 digits. For a 1 digit number, space out both of the 1's and
replace the 5 with the number you want. This answer sent in by: Cassie - Thank You!

| 7. I've tried hexing, but how do you hex a certain
breed? All I can do I hex one pet at a time, not the entire breed. |
I don't think you can hex one pet at a time! Just open the breed file (Ex:Dalmation.dog) and hex the breed file, not individual pets. Just follow my tutorials, it's based on breed hexing.
|
| 8. Do you know how to make breeds? |
This was sent to me by a nice visitor :)
Do a search for "BM". Now that you have that highlighted, you should see a line of dots just before it.
Count 12 dots up, and Highlight the 12th and the 11th.
Look on the side with all the hex decimals. Change the numbers that highlight with the 11th & 12th dots.
Change them to any four digit number that you want.
Now do a new search for the hex decimals. (make sure you have hex decimal selected.) Search for 50004600.
You should come to a section that says something like P.F. M.a.g.i.c...H.o.m.e.b.o.d.y...P.e.r.s.i.a.n
(depending on the breed you chose to hex.)
Change the name to what ever you want. *Don't* touch the Homebody or P.F. Magic stuff and *Don't* touch
the dots in between and make sure the name fits into the spaces of the breed name. ie: Persian
Now save as exactly as you put as the name, and add the ".cat" or ".dog" extension. *Don't* forget this step
or the petz won't show up at all.

This isnt really a hexing question.. but try here: Lisa Explains HTML
|
| 10. How do you hex non-tailed catz? |
To hex a non-tailed Petz, you just look in the hex-editor
for tail1, and look at the numbers just above it. Count down from the
first all the way to the sixth. The sixth one is the size of the ballz,
and to make it totally disapear, you just change it to -99. The tail1
is the closest tail part to the body. I hope this helps! If the tail
is still there when you open the breed (or part of one), adopt the
Catz/Dogz anyway and wait till it's an adult. Sometimes hexed features
don't show up until adulthood.
Thanks Emily for this info!

| 11. I was wondering, how do you make minis and how do you
change the petz gender? |
Strawberry Litterz Has a tutorial on mini-izing.

| 12. How do I fix stuck pregnancies? |
Copy all your Petz (except for the stuck one) into a new folder, you don't have to but you have to play with all your petz or they will start feeling neglected and run away. Open the Petz program and bring out your stuck pet, play with her for a minute. Put her back (don't close the program) Double click on the clock in the windows status. Change the date to one year ahead and apply the change. Bring out the stuck pet. The birth certificate should pop up. If not, put her back (don't close the program) and repeat the clock change . Bring her back out. This time it should work if not just try a few more times. Good Luck!

| 13. ok lets say i rename the great dane to sheep dane and
i get a dog out of the adoption center called sheep dane. now when i
rename breeds they can never breed with out getting stuck. how can i make
it so they can breed. and i didnt change the last 2 letters after the
name. |
*This was sent by: Nikki http://tigerdaw.brinkster.net/
A: I'm guessing that when you renamed the files back to thier original names the petz' breeds changed back to great dane to right (this is assumnig you never hexed the 'sheep dane' or 'great dane' file)? I would try downloading the great dane breed again and overwrite the one that's on your computer. If that still doesn't work, try re-installing petz and if that doesn't work then I'm afraid those petz will never breed, sorry. Assuming you didn't actually hex the file at all, just renamed it (if you hexed it I missed that part in your question!) can I ask why would you want to just rename it?
That's my suggestion, it's probably not right but at least it's a guess, right?

| 14. How do you change the color of the Alley catz
patches?? |
Look for the [Paint Ballz] section, you'll see ;paws,
then under that is ;torso - that's what you'll be working on. You'll see
that the sections look like this: -1..;torso..#2..3,..20...-.5, -.6, .4
.45.15.2.-1.3.1.0..3,..15....4, -.
see the .45.15... the 45 is the colour of the patch, so just go through
and change all the 45s in the ;torso section to whatever colour you
want. This sent in by: Kasper from: Kasperz Kritterz |
| 15. Can you make bob-tailed tabbies? I haven't been able
to so far ... is it because of their stripes or am I messing up on
their file? I have made bob/no-tails with other breeds. |
Basically what you have to do is delete some
of the tail balls. Depending on how long you want the
tail depends on what balls you change, -99 is the
number you'll need to get rid of that ball. Tail 6 is
the very end of the tail and Tail 1 is closest to the
body.

| 16.Is there anyway to get rid of the brown on the tip of
the ear and the Jaw? |
To change the un-coloured parts of the dog/cat which are
usually on the tail, the ears of the mouth area, here's what you do: Open
the hex editor. Take the BREEDFILE. Search for 'animator'. Then change
the colours to the ones you want. For changing DALI spots, open the
breedfile in the Hex-Editor, search for 'individual variation'. See all
those 35's? Change them to the colour you want. Hope this helps!

| 17. I was just wondering, how do you add Dali spots to other breeds (such
as danes) and change the color of spots (whether they are on a Dali, or
a different breed)? |
This sent to me by: Karli from Twist
I know how to spot other breedz, but its hard to explain.
lol. http://www.angelfire.com/stars3/kittycats0/spotting.htm has one.
To change the spot color, open the file you spotted and search for
;paws again. Then change ALL of the 35's to the color of your choice. :)

| 18.How do you make docked tails, chest patches, and halfies
(left/right halfies)?? i cant figure it out an no one has tutorials on
them.
|
To make a chest patch you do not look into the
ballz info section. You instead, get a breed with a
chest patch and in it's ';individual variation'
section it'll have a section called ';chest' or
';chest patches'. You then basically copy and paste
that bit into your breed you want to have the chest
patch. Just make sure at the end you still have the
same amount of bytes so you'll end up having to delete
some. Personally I do not know how to hex a halfie so
i'd just copy the halfies individual variation into
the breedfile I wanted, although it may not work out
right. The docked tails bit is the same as making a
bob tailed tabby.

| 19. I know this sounds really stupid..... But what does hexing
mean??? what is it for???? is it easy???? I need help!!!! I hear people
talking about it and I don't know what it is!!!!! |
Hexing is where you open up the breedfiles in a hexidecimal program and edit the file to change something about the breed such as color of coat, eyes, fuzzyness of coat ect.. Each breedfile is like a little program and you can alter it to get cool looking unique petz! It's kinda hard at first, but with some practice anyone can do it :) hope that helps!

| 20.When i flare dalmationz and certain breedz the flares dont come
till there older how do i do that to make it come out when its a pup? |
When you change the ball size on certain breeds it doesn't show up in the adoption
center. If that happens what you need to do is look up Ball Size Override and space it
completely out, or just space over the ball numbers you've changed. Ex. for flares it would
be 0 for L ankle, 23 for L wrist, 24 for R ankle, and 47 for R wrist. If you do it that way
make sure to space over the number following each ball number.

| 21.I hexed a Tabby on Catz 3 and it will not show up in the
adoption center. I have tried everything...Please help! |
Most likely you could have overwritten the commas when you were hexing. you could have changed the wrong number as well i.e: change the third number instead of the first. Mostly, if you change the iris color on the first number, the pupil will turn that color, or it won't show up. Tabbies are one of the hardest catz to hex that I know of. I tried hexing a tabby 3 times and it never shown up! This is the best I can do, I hope it helps!

That means you hexed something wrong. If you have a backup folder, drag it into the Catz folder, and it will say, "Would you like to replace it?" Press "Yes." If you do not have a backup folder, go to apkc.co.uk click on "From P.F magic" it will have a list of breedz to download. Download the tabby if you do not have a backup folder.

| 22. How Do you hex a dogz breed to be 3 legged? I adopted on
from APKC but I would like to know how I could hex one myself!?! |
Again this is just deleting the certain parts
of the pet in the ballz info section. Delete the leg
you want (you'll have to search for the right parts)
by changing it's ball size to -99.

| 23. How do you make a dogz tail like a wolf's tail? |
You have to change the dogz tail ball sizes.
Increase the numbers by 20 and see what happens and
keep changing them until you get the right amount. The
ball size is the 6th number within the ballz info
section for that certain part.

| 24. you have tutorials on changing colours, fuzzing, flaring etc,
but how do I actually look at a Real Breed picture and just hex a breed
to like like it? |
That takes a lot of work, and you use those techniques to make breeds look the way you want. Anyone else have any other input?? |
